The name of this blog is Rural American Pastor. My name is Josh Phillips and I pastor a church in a little town named Wellford, SC. In fact the name says it all; Little Mountain Baptist Church. I have a wife way out of my league, 2 little girls way out of my league, and a wonderful church way out of my league! LMB is the first church I have ever pastored and I’ve learned more since I been there than in the previous 29 years of my life! If you’re ever in Spartanburg, Greer, or Wellford, ask where Hollywild Zoo is. Then before you get there, stop by the church. We’re practically neighbors.

Josh,
I appreciate your blog. I am trying to network rural pastors who really care about shepherding rural congregations. I am working with the Tennessee Baptist Convention to recruit pastors who won’t cut and run from a rural church after 2 years. We also desire to educate churches on what it means to be a healthy church. I would be very interested in your assesment of the rural churche’s condition where you are.

Glad to see your blog! I wish more of us were passionate about rural ministry.
